Our Story
We are a family of seven living in west central Florida. Our family is founded on the virtues of time together, hard work, relationships, integrity, grit, and efficiency. In the difficult year of 2020, we didn’t want to merely survive as a family, but we wanted to flourish. To meet this family goal, we decided to hone in our pen turning skills and seek, not only to sell aesthetically beautiful pens, but to recount our experiences. In 2023 we took our love of turning pens to a new level as we were able to establish Borg Turned Pens LLC. We are delighted that you visited our website and we hope you love our pens!
Our Family

Michael: I am the grateful husband of Rachel and father of five children. I’m a Presbyterian pastor, and I also enjoy camping, disc golf, traveling, reading, woodworking, and car mechanics. I love teaching my children how to think outside the box, take initiative, enjoy their strengths, and overcome their weaknesses. I appreciate turning pens because it gives my children the opportunity to create with their hands and they are learning to appreciate the fruit of their labors.
Rachel: I am passionate about life and love creating order and beauty in everything. Camping, backpacking, running, reading, and having intentional conversation are some of my favorite pastimes. Being a wife and mom is the greatest joy of my life. I enjoy teaching eighth grade literature at The Classical Academy of Sarasota, where I have the pleasure of exploring timeless themes of goodness, truth, and beauty in classic works of literature. I examine all the finished pens and give my appraisal–I’ve earned the official title of quality checker!

Benjamin (15 yrs.): I am the oldest child in my family and I love to read, lathe pens, and play outside for fun. My favorite thing about turning pens is that it teaches me valuable skills that I can carry with me through all of life.

Ellie (14 yrs.): I was born in Indonesia! I enjoy crafts and working with wood. Of special interest to me is painting and drawing. I love turning pens! The whole process is exciting to me. I especially love how the acrylic pens shine when they’re finished.

Jonathan (12 yrs.): I love to write stories during my free time and hope to one day write a book. I enjoy playing with my brothers and protecting my sisters. What I like most about turning pens is taking a block of wood or acrylic and seeing it shaped into a pen; it brings a great amount of satisfaction.

Asher (10 yrs.): I am the youngest boy in my family. I love disc golf anything! Turning pens is super fun because I love watching the pens get cut down from a block of wood.

Avril (7 yrs.): I love reading books with mom and playing with my dolls. Watching daddy turn a pen is fun because I get to vacuum up all the dust and ribbons of acrylic.
